Patna: An Indigo Airlines flight from Delhi to Patna was forced to return to the capital shortly after takeoff on Wednesday, leaving several passengers, including Jamui MP Arun Bharti, stranded.
Flight 6E-2425 departed from New Delhi’s Terminal 2 at 2:20 pm but developed a technical fault approximately 30 minutes into the journey. The pilot informed passengers of the issue and requested an emergency landing at Lucknow. However, permission to land was denied due to air traffic constraints, and the aircraft returned to Delhi for safety reasons.
Passengers described the situation as stressful and frustrating. Rocky, a traveller returning to Patna after dropping his son at school in Dehradun, said the flight “took off on time, but within 30 minutes, a technical problem was announced.” With no immediate alternative travel options, passengers were forced to book flights for the following morning, staying overnight in hotels in Delhi and Gurgaon. Indigo Airlines has confirmed it is providing new tickets for Thursday morning.
This incident adds to growing concerns over the frequency of technical faults on Indigo flights, with passengers reporting wasted time, additional expenses, and considerable mental stress. Sudden returns or cancellations, they say, are increasingly becoming a common inconvenience for ordinary travellers.
