Saharsa: Saharsa district in Bihar is getting a fresh and modern addition that promises to change the way people experience railway stations. A new rail coach restaurant is being constructed at Saharsa railway station, bringing with it the comfort of dining and the convenience of 24-hour service. The project is being seen as good news not only for train passengers but also for local residents, who will be able to visit the restaurant at any time of the day or night. Once completed, it will be the first modern rail coach restaurant in the Kosi division.

The restaurant is being built in the circulating area near the new main entrance of Saharsa station under the East Central Railway. Construction work is currently in progress, and the aim is to make the space easily accessible without affecting the movement of passengers. Railway officials say the idea behind this project is to turn the station into more than just a transit point, offering better facilities and a more pleasant experience, especially for those who face long waiting hours or late-night journeys.

One of the most striking features of the restaurant is its design. The interior work has been assigned to a Bengaluru-based company, while the overall project is being managed by a local firm, Prakash Laundry Service. According to the company’s owner, Prakash Mishra, the entire restaurant will be made of strong glass. This glass structure is expected to give visitors a special feeling, similar to dining in an open space, while still enjoying modern comfort. The restaurant is expected to open to the public by March 2026.

Food options will be another major highlight. The restaurant will serve a wide range of Indian dishes from different parts of the country, along with local Bihari flavours. Chinese food options will also be available, catering to varied tastes. In addition to food, the restaurant will offer airport-like facilities such as proper seating arrangements, clean washrooms and even a selfie point. Home delivery and online food booking services are also planned. With these features, the new rail coach restaurant is expected to give Saharsa station a unique identity and set an example for similar stations across the region.
