Patna: Ishan Kishan’s return to the Indian cricket team has brought a wave of happiness to his home state of Bihar. After being selected for the T20 World Cup squad, the young wicketkeeper-batter arrived in Patna and spoke briefly to the media about his journey and his immediate plans. Kishan, who has made a comeback to Team India after nearly two years, looked tired but content. “I was waiting for this day,” he said, adding that he had just played a final and was feeling exhausted. For now, he said, rest was his top priority as he prepares mentally and physically for the World Cup.
The last two years have been challenging for Kishan, who was once seen as a regular member of India’s white-ball teams. After being dropped from the national side, he had to return to domestic cricket and work hard to regain form and confidence. That effort finally paid off in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he played a key role as the captain of the Jharkhand team. Kishan scored an impressive 517 runs in the tournament, showing consistency, leadership and maturity. His strong performances made it difficult for selectors to ignore him any longer.
At home, the news of his selection has been deeply emotional for his family. Kishan’s mother said she cannot fully express how happy she feels. She spoke about the struggle her son went through during the past two years and how painful it was to see him out of the Indian team. According to her, his selection is the result of hard work, patience and the prayers of well-wishers from across Bihar. She now hopes that her son performs well on the big stage and brings pride to the family and the state.
Kishan’s father, Pranav Pandey, also shared his joy, saying the family has been receiving congratulations from relatives, friends and fans from all sides. While they were hopeful after seeing his recent performances, the final announcement still came as a moment of great happiness. However, the journey is not over yet. With another wicketkeeper, Sanju Samson, also in the squad, there is strong competition for a place in the playing eleven. As the World Cup approaches, all eyes will be on whether Ishan Kishan gets his chance on the field and how he makes the most of this long-awaited return to Team India
