Patna: The Jan Suraaj Party has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding the immediate dismissal of Bihar deputy chief minister and BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary, alleging that he evaded conviction in a 1995 massacre case by misrepresenting his age.
In a letter sent on Tuesday, Jan Suraaj Party national president Uday Singh claimed that government records show Chaudhary was arrested and jailed in connection with the Launa Parsa massacre of March 28, 1995, in which six members of the Kushwaha community were killed. According to Singh, Chaudhary secured his release after presenting a matriculation admission card showing he was 15 years old at the time.
“However, in later election affidavits he declared his year of birth as 1969, which would make him 26 in 1995. This contradiction proves he was released from prison by producing false documents,” Singh wrote. He argued that such actions undermine public trust in governance and the rule of law, saying Chaudhary should be removed from office and the law allowed to “take its natural course.”
The move follows a press conference on Monday in which party founder Prashant Kishor had indicated that Jan Suraaj would write to the prime minister over the matter.
Singh said the continued presence of a leader facing such allegations in high office was “a blow to the dignity of governance,” and urged Modi to act in the interest of justice for the victims’ families.
