Patna: The Janata Dal (United) has claimed that its membership has crossed the one-crore mark, reaching a key milestone in the party’s ongoing membership drive ahead of the next organisational cycle.
The announcement was made by JDU Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha, who said the target had been achieved within six months of the launch of the party’s ‘JDU Membership Campaign 2025–28’.
Membership target achieved
In a post on social media on Wednesday, Jha said the campaign, launched by then Chief Minister and JDU National President Nitish Kumar on December 6 last had enrolled more than one crore primary members.
According to the party, the total number of primary members stood at 1,00,01,925 as of June 2 this year.
Campaign conducted at booth level
Jha credited party workers for the achievement, saying the membership drive was carried out down to the booth level across Bihar and other organisational units.
He thanked party members and supporters for their participation and described the response to the campaign as encouraging.
Political significance
The claim places JDU among the regional parties that have reported membership figures exceeding one crore. Earlier, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) had also claimed to have crossed the one-crore membership mark.
Both JDU and RJD are Bihar-based regional parties with significant political influence in the state.
Party reiterates commitment
Jha said the party remained committed to serving the people of Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and would continue working to meet public expectations.
