Chhapra/Patna:Students and research scholars at Jayaprakash University (JPU) will now have access to more than 13,000 national and international research journals after the university’s central library was integrated with the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) programme.
University officials said a trial run of the facility began in March. Following the completion of technical and infrastructure-related work, the library has now been formally connected to the platform.
The move is expected to improve access to academic resources and support research activities across disciplines.
Digital Access to Research Resources
Under the new system, students and scholars can access research journals online through the university’s library network.
Officials said the availability of a large repository of academic publications will help users access current research and strengthen the quality of scholarly work undertaken at the university.

E-Learning Centre Upgraded
As part of the library modernisation effort, an upgraded e-learning centre has been established within the central library.
More than 10 new computer systems have been installed, and a dedicated room has been created for online study and research. The library has also been equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity to support digital learning.
Access to International Academic Publications
The university said the library now provides access to research journals and academic content from more than 30 international publishers.
The resources are expected to benefit students and researchers working across a range of academic subjects by providing access to global scholarly literature.
Extensive Physical and Digital Collections
In addition to online resources, the central library houses around 20,000 books and approximately 12,000 research journals.
University officials said the combined physical and digital collections will serve as an important academic resource for students, faculty members and research scholars.
ONOS Aims to Reduce Subscription Costs
The One Nation One Subscription initiative, launched by the Government of India, seeks to provide higher educational institutions with access to a large range of international e-journals and research publications.
The programme is designed to reduce the need for individual institutions and students to purchase expensive subscriptions to academic databases and journals.
Vice-Chancellor Highlights Research Benefits
Vice-Chancellor Parmendra Kumar Bajpai said the facility would be particularly beneficial for research scholars and students pursuing higher education.
He said easier access to quality research material would support academic development and help strengthen the university’s research ecosystem.
Boost to Research and Innovation
University officials and academic experts believe the modernisation of the central library and the expansion of digital resources will encourage a stronger culture of research and innovation on campus.
They said the initiative could contribute to improving the university’s academic profile and support efforts towards greater research excellence.
