Patna/Lucknow: The bitter feud between Bhojpuri singer and BJP leader Pawan Singh and his wife Jyoti Singh escalated on Wednesday after Jyoti launched a sharp counterattack on social media, accusing the actor of betrayal and disrespecting the sanctity of marriage.
Hours after Pawan Singh alleged at a press conference that Jyoti was “remembering him only because elections are near” and “trying to become an MLA,” Jyoti posted a detailed rebuttal on Facebook, writing that his comments were “deeply hurtful and false.”
In her emotional post, Jyoti wrote, “Okay, I accept I just came. But if you didn’t want to have a relationship with me, why did you call me during the Lok Sabha elections? Why did you fill my hairline with vermilion after asking Deepak Bhaiya?”
She went on to describe the act as sacred, not symbolic. “Vermilion may be a joke for you, but it’s not for me. For a woman, her vermilion is her strength — which you filled in my hairline at a hotel in Karakat. Tell me if this is a lie. God will do justice.”
Jyoti’s post, which has since gone viral, drew thousands of comments and reignited the debate over Pawan Singh’s personal life and his growing political ambitions. Many users expressed sympathy for Jyoti, while others called the feud a “public spectacle” ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.
The controversy first flared up on Sunday when Jyoti arrived at Pawan Singh’s Lucknow residence, claiming on a live video that the police had come to remove her following an FIR filed by the singer. In tears, she said, “I am so upset that I will commit suicide by consuming poison. I will not leave this house like this. Only my funeral procession will leave from here.”
Despite the uproar, Pawan Singh has not directly addressed her latest claims about their alleged marriage. During his press conference, he reiterated, “Family matters happen in private, not on camera.”
The dispute comes at a time when speculation is mounting that the Bhojpuri actor may contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections as a BJP candidate, possibly from Ara or Karakat.
Observers say Jyoti Singh’s defiant response has shifted the public narrative, transforming what began as a personal dispute into a debate over accountability, gender respect, and political image-making in Bihar’s charged pre-election climate.
