Patna: The six-lane bridge across the Ganga connecting Kacchi Dargah to Bidupur has reached a major milestone, with the launch of its final segment marking the completion of core construction work.
The bridge, a key infrastructure project in Bihar, is expected to significantly improve connectivity between north and south Bihar once operational.
Key Link Between Regions
In Patna, the bridge will connect National Highway 31 with the Hajipur–Samastipur road, creating a crucial transport corridor.
Officials said the project will ease traffic pressure on existing crossings and provide faster movement between regions, including access to areas such as Raghopur Diara, which was partially connected last year.

Project Details
The main bridge spans 9.75 km, while the total project length, including approach roads, extends to 19.5 km.
Designed as an extra-dosed cable-stayed structure, the bridge is 32 metres wide and will support vehicle speeds of up to 100 kmph.
Asphalt paving has already been completed on most sections of the roadway.
Officials Mark Milestone
Senior officials from the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited, including managing director Shirshat Kapil Ashok, were present during the launch of the final segment, along with engineers and representatives of the Daewoo–Larsen & Toubro consortium.
Ashok congratulated the project team and expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work.

Expected Opening By May 2026
Officials said the bridge is likely to be ready for vehicular movement by the end of May 2026.
The project has been financed through a combination of state funding and a loan of Rs 3,000 crore from the Asian Development Bank, with the Bihar government contributing around Rs 2,000 crore.
Once operational, the bridge is expected to reduce travel time, improve logistics and strengthen regional connectivity, marking a significant step in Bihar’s infrastructure development.
