Patna: The Patna Civil Court on Saturday extended the interim stay on the arrest of Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, until June 30 in connection with a coaching centre dispute and an alleged firing incident. The court granted three days to the parties to examine the updated case diary submitted by the Kadamkuan police before hearing detailed arguments on the anticipatory bail plea.
The interim protection means no coercive action can be taken against Khan Sir until the next hearing.
Court Defers Hearing After Case Diary Submission
During the hearing, the Kadamkuan police submitted an updated case diary as directed by the court during the previous proceedings.
Khan Sir’s counsel argued that the matter had already been delayed and urged the court to hear arguments on the anticipatory bail application without further postponement. However, the public prosecutor and the complainant’s counsel sought additional time to study the updated case diary.
After hearing both sides, the court allowed three days for examination of the documents and listed the matter for hearing on June 30.
Interim Protection Continues
The court ordered that the interim protection granted to Khan Sir would remain in force until the next hearing. As a result, no arrest or other coercive legal action can be initiated against him during this period.
The interim relief was first granted on June 20, when the court directed the police not to take coercive action against Khan Sir while his anticipatory bail plea remained under consideration.
Bail Pleas of Bodyguards to Be Heard Together
The regular bail applications of Khan Sir’s two bodyguards, who are currently in judicial custody in connection with the same case, will also be heard on June 30.
The court has tagged both matters together for simultaneous consideration.
Updated Case Diary Forms Key Part of Investigation
According to the updated case diary filed by the police, the firing was allegedly not an act of self-defence. The police have claimed that the two bodyguards fired with the intention of creating panic and acted on Khan Sir’s instructions.
These findings form part of the investigation and are yet to be tested in court.
During the previous hearing, the police had submitted an incomplete case diary. The court had then directed investigators to file a detailed and updated version before further proceedings.
Staff Members Also Continue to Receive Protection
The interim protection granted earlier to three staff members associated with Khan Sir also remains in force until the next hearing.
The court has directed that no coercive action be taken against them while the matter is pending.
Defence Maintains Innocence
Khan Sir has denied all allegations in his anticipatory bail application, stating that he had no role in the alleged firing incident and has been falsely implicated.
His counsel, Arvind Kumar Maurya, said the court has presently continued protection from arrest and will decide the anticipatory bail plea after examining the updated case diary and other material placed on record.
