Patna: A rivalry between two of Patna’s best-known coaching institutes has escalated into a public confrontation, with students taking to the streets and police widening their investigation into an attack on Khan Global Studies that has already led to multiple arrests.
The latest developments came as students associated with Gyan Bindu Coaching staged a protest at Kargil Chowk on Thursday, demanding the release of the institute’s director, Roshan Anand, who was arrested in connection with the attack on Khan Sir’s coaching centre earlier this week.
Police intervened at the protest site, persuaded demonstrators to disperse and maintained security in the area.
Attack Investigation Expands
The controversy stems from an incident at Khan Global Studies on the night of June 2, when a group of individuals allegedly entered the premises, assaulted a security guard, vandalised property and engaged in stone-pelting.
Soon after the incident, Khan Sir claimed that gunfire had taken place during the attack. He later clarified that his statement was based on information provided by security personnel and others present at the scene during a period of confusion.
The investigation took a fresh turn after a video circulated on social media allegedly showed one of the coaching centre’s own security guards firing a weapon during the incident.
Following the emergence of the footage, police arrested two security guards employed by Khan Global Studies and recovered two modified rifles, which have been sent for forensic examination.
According to police sources, both guards have stated during questioning that they fired in self-defence.
The arrested guards have been identified as Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, and Taleshwar Prasad, a resident of Kasganj.
Police have also questioned Khan Sir as part of the ongoing investigation.

Protests Demand Roshan Anand’s Release
The arrests have fuelled tensions among supporters of Gyan Bindu Coaching.
Students gathered at Kargil Chowk, alleging that Roshan Anand had been wrongly implicated and demanding his immediate release.
Roshan Anand, who was arrested along with two associates, Abhishek and Gaurav, has maintained that he is innocent and has accused rivals of attempting to damage his institution’s reputation.
All three were earlier remanded to judicial custody and sent to Beur Jail.

Rivalry Linked To Recruitment Success Claims
Amid the escalating dispute, educator Guru Rahman offered a different explanation for the conflict, suggesting that it stemmed from competition over claims of success in the Bihar Police constable recruitment examination.
Speaking to journalists, Rahman said both coaching institutes had sought to claim credit for successful candidates selected in the recruitment drive.
A total of 19,838 candidates were selected in the recruitment process.
According to Rahman, disagreements emerged after both institutes organised felicitation programmes for successful candidates, with tensions escalating when students associated with one coaching centre attended an event organised by the other.
He acknowledged that a physical confrontation had occurred between individuals linked to the two institutions but rejected claims that there had been an exchange of gunfire between rival groups.

Police Yet To Reach Final Conclusion
Investigators are currently examining CCTV footage, viral videos, witness statements and forensic evidence linked to the recovered firearms.
Police have not yet issued a final conclusion regarding the firing allegations or the broader circumstances surrounding the clash.
The case has attracted significant attention in Bihar’s highly competitive coaching sector, where institutes frequently compete for students and public recognition based on examination results.
With arrests made on both sides of the dispute and fresh evidence continuing to emerge, the investigation remains ongoing.
