Madhepura/Purnia: In a swift joint operation, police have rescued a two-year-old boy kidnapped from Madhepura and recovered him safely from Purnia within 24 hours. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₹3 lakh from the child’s family.

The child was kidnapped on Sunday evening while playing outside his home in Bhagipur village under Alamnagar police station limits in Madhepura district. Despite frantic searches by the family, he could not be traced. Late at night, the kidnappers called the father, demanding ransom in exchange for his release.

Child Rescued from Purnia

A coordinated operation was launched by Srinagar police, Madhepura police, STF, and SOG-12, which led to the recovery of the child from Jageli village in Srinagar police station area of Purnia, nearly 100 km away from his home.

Police confirmed that three kidnappers were arrested, while one accused managed to escape. The boy had been locked inside a house in Jageli village when the rescue took place.

Accused Identified

According to investigators, the kidnapping was orchestrated by Anil Singh, a resident of Beldaur police station area in Khagaria district. After kidnapping the boy, he took him to Purnia, where the child was kept hidden at the residence of Ramesh Mandal. Both Singh and Mandal, along with another accomplice, were arrested on the spot.

A local person who allegedly assisted the kidnappers is currently absconding. Raids are being conducted to trace him.

Relief in the Village

When the police returned with the rescued child, a wave of relief spread through the village. A large crowd of locals gathered, welcoming the safe recovery. The family expressed deep gratitude to the police team for acting swiftly and saving the boy’s life.

Investigation Ongoing

Senior STF and Madhepura police officials said the operation was executed with a carefully planned strategy. Investigations are underway to uncover the wider network of the kidnappers and identify other people involved. Continuous raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding accused.
