Patna: Women in Bihar will soon be able to register their complaints online with the Bihar State Women’s Commission, removing the need to travel long distances to its office. The new facility will be officially launched on September 19, coinciding with the Commission’s 24th anniversary celebrations.
Commission President Apsara Mishra said the initiative aims to help women, especially from rural and remote areas, who often face difficulties in reaching the Commission’s office to file complaints. “Now, poor women living far away will not have to come to Patna. They will be able to submit their applications online, and the Commission will take cognizance of their cases,” Mishra stated.
How the Online Process Will Work
- Applicants will need to fill out a detailed online form.
- The complainant must provide her full identity details along with information about the accused person.
- A case-type column will be included, covering categories such as:
- Dowry harassment
- Domestic violence
- Sexual harassment
- Attempt to rape under the pretext of marriage
- Extramarital affairs, among others
- Once all details are filled and the form is digitally signed, the application will be considered complete.
The Commission will then take formal cognizance of the matter and proceed with necessary action.
Easier Access for Women
Officials said the online mechanism will ensure quicker registration of cases and save women from making repeated visits to the office. The system is expected to increase accessibility, transparency, and speed in handling complaints related to women’s safety and rights in Bihar.
