Patna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar will preside over a cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning, with proposals on education, agriculture and economic development expected to dominate discussions. The meeting, scheduled for 10.30am, will see all ministers and senior officials in attendance.
The government has indicated that several key policy decisions could emerge, with a direct bearing on public welfare. The agenda builds on the previous cabinet session, in which 49 proposals were cleared.
At that meeting, the state approved the creation of 3,200 posts across departments, with recruitment set to begin shortly. Daily allowances for 30,000 home guard personnel were increased from Rs 774 to Rs 1,121, raising their monthly earnings from Rs 23,220 to Rs 33,630.
The government also raised the honorarium of Gram Kachhari secretaries from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000. In the education sector, a scholarship package worth Rs 231 crore was cleared for 1.6 million students from OBC and EBC communities, in addition to existing schemes for SC and ST students.
Women’s employment has been another area of focus. The cabinet approved Rs 20,000 crore under the Chief Minister Mahila Rojgar Yojana for 2025-26. The scheme will provide an initial grant of Rs 10,000 to one woman in every family to start a livelihood activity. Disbursements are scheduled to begin in September, with potential top-up support of up to Rs 2 lakh available after six months, subject to assessment.
