Kishanganj: A female police constable was found dead in her rented room in Kishanganj on Tuesday evening, in what authorities are treating as a suspected suicide.
The deceased, Priyanka Kumari, 2018-batch constable of the Reserve Home Guard, had been posted in Kishanganj for approximately three months. She was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in her Dumaria Bhatt residence.
According to police, Priyanka left for her regular duty in the morning and returned home later in the day. The landlord, noticing that her room remained open and unoccupied into the evening, peered through a window and saw her body. Authorities were immediately alerted.
A police team broke down the door, retrieved the body, and sent it for postmortem examination. The room has been sealed, and a forensic team is examining the premises for evidence. Superintendent of Police said the cause of the death is under investigation.
Locals reported that Priyanka had been married and was recently facing disputes with her husband. Police emphasised that inquiries are ongoing and that they are questioning her family and colleagues before drawing any conclusions.
