Muzaffarpur: As Bihar gears up for the Assembly elections, one constituency is turning heads with an innovative and eco-friendly approach. In the Kudhni Assembly constituency, a unique initiative titled “Green Election Campaigning” has been launched under the guidance of Dr. Hiralal, General Observer, to combine the spirit of democracy with the message of environmental awareness.
The campaign aims to inspire voter participation while spreading the message of ecological responsibility. Dr. Hiralal said, “Maintaining the earth’s greenery and strengthening the dignity of democracy are both duties of every citizen. If we can go out to vote, we can also fulfill the responsibility of planting a tree.”
Under this initiative, the first five voters at every polling station in Kudhni will receive a sapling as a gift, carrying the message — “Every vote brings new greenery.”
Four ‘Green Special Booths’ Identified
To further encourage participation, four polling stations in Kudhni have been designated as “Green Special Booths.” Each of these booths will distribute 50 saplings on polling day, resulting in a total of 1,875 plants being handed out to voters across the constituency. The idea is to ensure that the act of voting not only strengthens democracy but also contributes to a greener planet.
A Festive Spirit of Democracy
During a review meeting held at the Kudhni Block Office auditorium, Dr. Hiralal interacted with Booth Level Officers (BLOs), supervisors, and sector officials. He emphasized that elections should be celebrated as a festival of democracy. “It is our responsibility to celebrate this festival in a way that encourages the maximum number of people to participate,” he said.
Officials attending the meeting lauded the initiative, describing it as a benchmark for future elections.

The “Green Election Campaigning” is not limited to sapling distribution — it represents a broader effort to foster public participation and environmental consciousness. Officials believe that this grassroots initiative from Kudhni could become a model for the entire state.
“This campaign is not only inspiring people to vote but is also promoting environmental protection. Every booth will become a symbol of greenery — this is the hallmark of true democracy,” said local officers, including the Kudhni Circle Officer and Child Development Project Officer.
