Patna: Patients at Lok Nayak Jayaprakash (LNJP) Hospital in Rajvanshi Nagar can expect better medical services soon. The hospital will soon get a second X-ray machine and a repaired oxygen plant. These two upgrades are expected to ease the difficulties faced by hundreds of patients every day.
Right now, the hospital has only one X-ray machine. Because of this, patients often have to wait in long queues to get their X-rays done. Many times, they do not receive their reports for three to four days. This causes delays in treatment, even in emergency cases. Many patients, unable to wait, are forced to visit private centres, where they must pay high fees for the same service.
Ramashish Singh, a 55-year-old from Patel Nagar, said the wait time is frustrating. “Getting an X-ray can take three to four days. It’s very difficult,” he shared. Another patient, Hanslal Ram from Naubatpur, said he had booked an X-ray during the Dussehra festival, but the machine broke down. He finally got his turn after weeks. “I reached the hospital at 7 a.m. but still had to wait for hours,” he said.
Premlata Devi from Rajvanshi Nagar has been coming to the hospital for three days. She said the lines are always long and slow. “Even after coming early in the morning, I couldn’t get the X-ray done quickly,” she said. Many people in the area have shared similar complaints. But there is hope on the horizon. Hospital director Dr. Sirseej Nayanam confirmed that a second X-ray machine will be installed after Diwali. “This will reduce the waiting time and help in faster treatment,” he said.
In another major improvement, the hospital’s oxygen plant, which had stopped working for nearly a year, has now been repaired. According to hospital officials, the plant will become operational in the next 10 days. It was originally built during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide oxygen directly to the hospital. Once it starts working again, patients will no longer need oxygen from outside sources. Pipelines are also being laid to connect the plant to the main hospital and the trauma centre.
Dr. Nayanam added, “Work is being done quickly so that the oxygen plant can start functioning soon. This will be a big help for patients who need oxygen support.”
These new facilities at LNJP Hospital are expected to bring major relief to patients and their families, many of whom come from nearby towns and villages. After a long wait, the hospital is finally taking steps to improve basic services, helping make healthcare more accessible and less stressful for all.
