Patna: The Railway Board has announced that the Lokmanya Tilak Express, currently running between Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Patna, will soon be extended to Rajgir. A timetable has already been issued, though the exact start date of operations from Rajgir will be finalised by East Central Railway.
According to the notification shared on X by Danapur Division’s Assistant Divisional Railway Manager, Aadhar Raj, the Rajgir–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express (13201) will depart Rajgir at 8.45 p.m. and reach Patna Junction at 11.45 p.m., before arriving in Mumbai at 10.50 a.m. the next day.

In the return direction, the train (13202) will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 2.45 p.m., reaching Patna Junction shortly after midnight and terminating at Rajgir at 3 a.m. The extended route will also serve Nalanda, Bihar Sharif, Bakhtiyarpur, Fatuha and Patna Sahib.
Railway officials said the extension is aimed at strengthening regional connectivity, particularly for Rajgir, a town of religious and historical significance, and easing travel for passengers from Nalanda district.
