Patna: A new requirement for domestic LPG consumers will take effect from October 1, 2026, with biometric Aadhaar authentication becoming mandatory for purchasing eligible domestic LPG refills at the regulated retail selling price (RSP) with subsidy.

Consumers who have already completed biometric Aadhaar authentication will not be required to repeat the process. Their access to subsidised LPG refills will continue subject to their eligibility.

Authentication Before October 1

Consumers who have not completed the authentication process are advised to do so before October 1. Oil companies have provided multiple options, meaning consumers do not necessarily have to visit their LPG distributor.

Authentication can be completed through the delivery person’s mobile application during cylinder delivery or at the LPG distributor’s outlet.

Authentication Through Mobile Apps

Consumers can also complete the process from home using the mobile application of their LPG provider.

Indane consumers can use the IndaneOilOne app, Bharat Gas consumers can use the HelloBPCL app, while HP Gas consumers can use the HP Pay app.

Option For Consumers Not Opting For BAA

Consumers who do not wish to undergo biometric Aadhaar authentication, or are unable to complete it, can register their preference through the digital channels provided by oil companies.

Such consumers will be able to purchase LPG at the applicable market price rather than the subsidised rate.

5 Kg And 10 Kg Cylinder Option

Subject to availability, consumers who do not undergo BAA can also purchase LPG in 5 kg or 10 kg cylinders at the non-subsidised market price.

This means LPG access will remain available, although the subsidised-refill benefit may not be available without the required authentication.

PMUY Portal Offers Guidance

Video tutorials explaining biometric Aadhaar authentication and e-KYC are available through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) portal.

Consumers can use these resources to understand the authentication process and complete the required formalities.

Helpline For Assistance

Consumers requiring assistance with biometric Aadhaar authentication or LPG-related services can contact the toll-free helpline 1800 2333 555.

They can also approach their respective LPG distributor for help with the authentication process or other difficulties.
