Madhubani: A wedding celebration in Madhubani turned tragic on Friday night when a young man was shot dead during celebratory firing. The incident happened in Mahpatia village, under the Bheja police station area. The victim has been identified as Iftkhar Kaushar, also known as Lala, who was just 18 years old.
According to local reports, the wedding of Mohammad Nehal Nadaf’s daughter was underway. As soon as the Nikah ceremony was completed, members of the bride’s side began firing in celebration. One of the bullets struck Iftkhar on the forehead. He collapsed on the spot and died immediately.
The joyful atmosphere quickly turned into one of panic and grief. People started crying and shouting as soon as they realised Iftkhar had been shot. Local residents called the police, and SHO Suraj Kumar arrived with his team to investigate. The police took the body for postmortem and have started looking into who fired the shot.
The police have said that a full investigation is underway. Locals revealed that this is not the first time celebratory firing has happened in the village. Authorities are now urging people to avoid such dangerous acts during celebrations to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
