Bodh Gaya:Magadh University on Saturday held a meeting with principals of its constituent and newly established colleges to review preparations for admissions through the SAMARTH portal from the 2026-28 academic session.

The meeting was held at Ramanujan Auditorium in the Department of Mathematics, Bodh Gaya, and was chaired by Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Dilip Kumar Keshari.

Senior university officials, including Registrar Binod Kumar Mangalam, Dean of Student Welfare Prof P.K. Chaudhary, CCDC Sanjay Tiwari, Proctor Prof K.D.P. Verma and Controller of Examinations Pratim Parth Das, attended the meeting.

Focus on digital and transparent admissions

The meeting was convened in light of the Bihar government’s decision to conduct admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate professional courses through the SAMARTH portal.

Addressing the participants, Prof Keshari said the portal would play an important role in promoting transparency and digital governance in higher education in line with the National Education Policy (NEP).

He urged college administrations to complete all technical and administrative preparations on schedule to ensure a smooth admission process for students.

Principals raise operational concerns

College principals highlighted a range of technical and administrative issues related to the portal, including student registration, document verification, seat allocation, data uploading and integration with Aadhaar and APAAR IDs.

University officials discussed the concerns and issued guidance aimed at resolving operational challenges before the commencement of the admission cycle.

Postgraduate course structure explained

The meeting also reviewed changes to postgraduate education under the evolving academic framework.

Officials informed participants that both one-year and two-year postgraduate programmes would be offered. Students completing a three-year undergraduate degree or six semesters would be eligible for two-year postgraduate courses.

Those completing a four-year undergraduate programme, including the research component, would be eligible for admission to one-year postgraduate courses.

University authorities said the information would help colleges guide students regarding eligibility and academic pathways.

APAAR ID issues discussed

Special attention was given to difficulties being faced by colleges in generating and verifying students’ APAAR IDs.

The university assured participants that support would be provided to institutions and students encountering technical or procedural problems during the process.

Coordination meetings to continue

Principals described the meeting as useful and said it helped clarify several issues related to the implementation of the SAMARTH portal.

University officials indicated that similar coordination meetings would continue to facilitate the smooth rollout of admission reforms and the implementation of NEP-related changes across affiliated colleges.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Proctor Prof K.D.P. Verma. The proceedings ended with the National Anthem.
