Patna: Patna police have arrested a 25-year-old man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl after allegedly luring her with a false promise of marriage.
The incident took place in the Sultanganj area of Patna City. According to officials, the accused had been in contact with the girl for the past two months and allegedly took her to a hotel, where the assault occurred.
Police said the matter came to light when the girl informed her family, who subsequently lodged a written complaint at Sultanganj police station. Following the complaint, officers registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Raj Kishore Singh, Patna City’s sub-divisional police officer, confirmed that the minor has been sent for medical examination and her statement will be recorded in court. The accused remains in custody and is being questioned.
