Patna: Two Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislators have defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar, delivering a fresh setback to opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav.
Vibha Devi, the MLA from Nawada, and Prakash Veer, the MLA from Rajauli, were seen on stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his rally at Magadh University in Bodh Gaya. Their appearance alongside senior BJP leaders marked their formal shift of allegiance.
The rally was part of Modi’s visit to Bihar, where he announced development projects worth about Rs 13,000 crore.
Vibha Devi, who entered politics after her husband Rajballabh Yadav – convicted in a rape case and recently released from prison – was barred from contesting elections, had been elected as an RJD representative. Her colleague Prakash Veer, MLA from Rajauli, also shared the stage with BJP leaders, signalling the erosion of RJD’s legislative strength.
