Patna: Union minister Chirag Paswan has launched a sharp attack on the opposition in Bihar, accusing the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of having lost political ground and becoming a “hanger-on” of the Congress.
Speaking in Patna on Friday, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated visits to Bihar were evidence that the state was a priority for the government. “Those who have no issues left before the public are now questioning the PM’s visits. Whatever promises the Prime Minister made, he has fulfilled them. Bihar continues to benefit from central schemes,” Paswan said.
He criticised RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav over remarks that Modi had come to perform the pind daan of chief minister Nitish Kumar’s politics. “There should be opposition on policies and work, but there is no place for such language,” Paswan said.
Turning his fire on Tejashwi Yadav, Paswan mocked the RJD leader for projecting Rahul Gandhi as prime ministerial candidate. “The party that once held power in Bihar has become so weak that it is now forced to parade Rahul Gandhi around. RJD’s survival depends on clinging to Congress, which has no public support across the country,” he said.
Paswan also weighed in on the Union Territory Bill, saying RJD and Congress were “alike” in their approach, though he did not elaborate further.
