Khagaria: Development work at Mansi railway station in Khagaria district is nearing completion under the Amrit Bharat Yojana, with a new station building almost ready for use.
Railway officials said preparations are in the final stages to shift the station master’s cabin, panel room and other offices to the newly constructed building, marking a significant upgrade to the station’s infrastructure.
The relocation is expected to resolve a long-standing issue linked to the station’s old office, which has been in use since the British era. Located between platforms two and three, the office became lower than platform level after the conversion to broad gauge, creating inconvenience for both passengers and railway staff.
Once the shift is completed, authorities plan to utilise the space for constructing a new platform, which is expected to improve passenger movement and enhance the station’s overall layout.
The redevelopment project, being carried out at a cost of around Rs 21 crore, includes the construction of a modern station building, upgraded waiting rooms, a foot-over-bridge (FOB) and improved parking facilities.
Officials said the station building has already been completed, while work on a 12-foot-wide FOB is in progress. Platform expansion is also nearing completion, alongside improvements in passenger amenities.
Special attention is being given to essential services such as drinking water, sanitation and security, with authorities urging passengers to maintain cleanliness and follow station regulations.
Mansi Junction, located on the Barauni–Katihar rail section, also serves as the originating point for the Mansi–Saharsa route, making it a key transit hub with heavy passenger traffic.
Passengers have long faced challenges due to limited facilities, but officials said the ongoing modernisation is expected to significantly improve convenience, streamline movement and provide a better overall travel experience.
