Patna: Marriott International has officially announced its first hotel project in Patna, marking an important moment for the capital of Bihar. The project, to be known as Marriott Hotel Patna, will be developed by Nutan Hospitality and operated by NILE Hospitality. Once completed, it will become the city’s first internationally branded hotel, a development that many see as a sign of Patna’s growing economic confidence and changing urban identity.
The planned hotel will have 205 rooms and will be located about 15 minutes from Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, making it easily accessible for travellers. According to the plan, the hotel will include an all-day dining restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, and spacious banqueting halls along with lawn areas. These facilities are expected to cater to weddings, family functions, conferences and business meetings, addressing a long-standing gap in Patna for organised, premium hospitality spaces.
Marriott’s entry into Patna is part of the global hotel group’s wider strategy to expand in Tier II and Tier III cities across India. Such cities are witnessing rapid infrastructure development, improved connectivity and increasing corporate activity. Patna, in particular, has seen steady growth in recent years and is emerging as an important administrative, commercial and cultural centre in eastern India. The arrival of a global brand like Marriott is expected to boost the city’s image and encourage further investment in tourism and related sectors.
Ayush Kumar Sinha, director of Nutan Hospitality, said that Patna is on an upward path and that the project aligns with the city’s progress. He added that Marriott’s global reputation, combined with NILE Hospitality’s operational experience, would help deliver a reliable and high-quality hotel for the city. Vikram Singh Chauhan, founder and chief executive of NILE Hospitality, described the signing as a key milestone, saying the partnership aims to bring international hospitality standards to Patna while building a strong presence in high-potential markets. He also said the company plans to add around 1,000 rooms under the Marriott portfolio by the end of this year, highlighting the scale of its expansion plans.
