Motihari: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced a significant employment incentive scheme during a public rally in Motihari, pledging Rs 15,000 to individuals securing their first job in the private sector. The announcement, made as part of a broader development push in Bihar, is aimed at boosting employment among the state’s youth and strengthening the private sector’s role in job creation.
The scheme, which will take effect from August 1, forms part of a Rs 1 lakh crore central government initiative, and is expected to particularly benefit young jobseekers in eastern India. “For the first time, the central government will give Rs 15,000 to those who are newly employed in private companies,” Modi said. “This will empower our youth and encourage greater participation in the formal workforce.”
During the rally, the Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 7,200 crore. In addition, he flagged off four new Amrit Bharat trains, aimed at improving regional connectivity and rail infrastructure.
Emphasising the growing influence of eastern countries on the global stage, Modi called for a parallel rise of India’s eastern states, with Bihar at the forefront. “Just as eastern countries are advancing in development, eastern India must not be left behind,” he said. “Our resolution is a Viksit Bihar — a developed Bihar — where every young person finds employment.”
Highlighting recent large-scale government appointments in the state, Modi said the central government was working “shoulder to shoulder” with the Bihar government to expand employment opportunities. He added that this latest scheme would further support youth in securing meaningful employment without needing to leave the state.
