Muzaffarpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a massive rally in Muzaffarpur on Thursday, accused the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of disrespecting Bihar’s most sacred festival, Chhath Puja, while vowing to rid the state of what he called “Katta to Corruption” politics.
PM Modi, who arrived in Bihar six days ahead of the first phase of polling, began his speech by connecting with local sentiment. “Your speech is as sweet as the litchis here,” he said, drawing loud cheers from the crowd. “This sea of people shows that the NDA government of good governance will once again come to power in Bihar.”
Taking a sharp dig at the opposition, the Prime Minister accused Congress and RJD leaders of “insulting Chhathi Maiya for votes.” “Your son is spreading the praises of Chhathi Maiya across the world, while they are calling Chhath Puja a drama. Will the mothers and sisters of Bihar tolerate such an insult?” he asked.
In an apparent response to Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments in Muzaffarpur — that “Narendra Modi will do any drama for votes, even dance on stage if asked” — PM Modi said the festival embodies the faith, devotion, and social harmony of Bihar, and that his government is working to have Chhath Mahaparva recognised by UNESCO. “This will make every Bihari proud,” he said.
Expanding his attack, PM Modi described the RJD and its allies as the embodiment of “five evils” — Katta (gun culture), Krurta (cruelty), Katuta (bitterness), Kushashan (misgovernance), and Corruption. “These are their true identity,” he declared. “They destroyed Bihar’s image once; the people will never allow them to do it again.”
