Begusarai: A 26-day training programme in Dehpar village of Virpur block has opened new doors for women dreaming of running their own businesses. The training, organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, was designed to help women learn how to grow mushrooms and turn them into marketable products. On Saturday, the programme came to an end with a certificate distribution ceremony, where 55 women proudly received recognition for their hard work and learning.
During the training, the participants were taught the entire process of mushroom production. Trainers Ramkumar Singh and Jyoti Kumari guided them through techniques for growing button and oyster mushrooms. The women also learned how to make products such as mushroom pickles, puris, and powder, giving them a range of items to sell in the market. Project Coordinator Pranav Kumar Tiwari also spoke to the women about entrepreneurship, business planning, and how to think about their work as a long-term livelihood opportunity.
This initiative does not stop at training. Tiwari assured the women that they would continue to receive support for the next 16 months. This will include help with product development, marketing, and business growth, along with connections to banks for financial support. He said that the organisation will also make arrangements for the women to sell their products through stalls and fairs so that they can reach more customers and earn a steady income.
Social workers Meera Devi and Priyanka Kumari attended the event and encouraged the women to use their new skills to become independent and successful. The women expressed their gratitude to Dr Raman Gujral, the project director, and said that the training had given them confidence and hope. Many participants said that such programmes could change lives and help them support their families.
