Muzaffarpur/Patna: Police searched the Muzaffarpur residence of Amit Kumar Ranu, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) MLA from Belsand in Sitamarhi, on Sunday morning in connection with a case arising from a land dispute and the alleged demolition of a boundary wall.
A police team arrived at the MLA’s residence after obtaining a search warrant from a court and began searching the premises. No official information has been released so far about whether anything was recovered during the search.
Search follows boundary wall demolition case
The case relates to an incident reported two days ago involving the demolition of a boundary wall during a dispute over land.
According to the complaint lodged with police, the MLA’s brother allegedly arrived at the site with some unidentified youths in a vehicle displaying the LJP (Ram Vilas) flag, following which the boundary wall was demolished.
The complainant has also alleged that the incident was recorded on video.
These allegations have not been independently verified.
Two people arrested
Police have already arrested two people in connection with the case and sent them to jail, according to the information available. Cases have also reportedly been registered against other individuals.
The complaint further alleges that the MLA’s brother used strong-arm tactics in connection with land-related activities. The allegations are part of the complaint and have not been established.
Investigation under way
Following the written complaint, police registered an FIR and subsequently obtained a search warrant from the court, according to reports.
The Sunday search at the MLA’s Muzaffarpur residence was conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
