Bhagalpur: The sudden deaths of dozens of crows in the Sandis Compound, a prominent public area in Bhagalpur, have sparked alarm among residents, amid fears of a possible bird flu outbreak. Several dead birds were discovered near the swimming pool, witnessed by early-morning walkers.
Locals reported that a similar spate of bird deaths occurred recently in the Navgachhiya area, heightening public concern. Despite the rising anxiety, officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the deaths.
Citizens voiced their demand for immediate action, urging authorities to safely remove the carcasses and sanitize the area. “Deaths of birds in open spaces are a serious matter,” said one resident, adding that no team from the district administration, municipal corporation, or smart city authority had responded so far. Many locals have since reduced visits to the compound due to safety concerns.
Health experts recommended prompt testing by the Animal Husbandry and Health Departments, warning that early intervention could prevent a potential outbreak.
Residents continue to await administrative action and hope for a scientific investigation to determine whether bird flu is involved.
