Patna: The Bihar deputy chief minister and home minister, Samrat Choudhary, told the legislative council that 25 acres of land belonging to the Bihar State Housing Cooperative Federation Limited in Digha- Rajiv Nagar would be freed from encroachment within the next one to one and a half months.
Responding to concerns raised by members, Choudhary said the Patna district magistrate would be directed to initiate action. The land in question lies in the Patliputra circle under the Rajiv Nagar and Digha police station limits, near Ashiana- Digha Road.
A survey team has been constituted to identify and remove encroachments from the property. The issue was raised by more than half a dozen MLCs, including Anil Kumar and Dilip Kumar Singh, who sought clarity on the status of the land and steps being taken for its recovery.
During the discussion, Syed Faisal Ali also flagged the absence of a fire department office in Patliputra Colony, pointing out that despite the area’s residential and commercial significance, firefighting arrangements remain inadequate.
Choudhary said the matter would be reviewed and an appropriate decision taken after examining the situation.
