Nawada: In a major push to strengthen urban security, authorities in Nawada are set to install 137 advanced surveillance cameras across the city at a cost of approximately Rs 4.98 crore. The project will link major roads, key intersections, and sensitive zones to a centralized monitoring network aimed at improving law enforcement response and public safety.
The surveillance system will be implemented by BELTRON, while operational monitoring will be handled by the municipal council. Administrative sources said installation is in its final phase, with the police department having already identified 45 priority locations where cameras will be installed first.
Prominent sites, including Prajatantra Chowk and Sadbhavana Chowk, are part of the initial rollout. Once operational, officials said, the system will enable continuous monitoring of city activities and provide immediate access to footage in the event of criminal incidents or road accidents.
Operators stationed in the control room will be able to detect suspicious movements in real time and alert authorities for prompt action. Adequate lighting arrangements are also being installed at camera locations to ensure clear visibility at night, allowing effective surveillance even in low-light conditions.
