Nalanda: Electric vehicle owners travelling long distances in Nalanda may soon have easier access to charging facilities, with the district transport office proposing 16 locations for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the first phase.
The proposal has been prepared and sent to the department for final approval. The charging infrastructure will be developed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) under the Centre’s PM E-DRIVE scheme, which aims to support the expansion of electric mobility infrastructure.
The Transport and Road Construction departments jointly identified land for the proposed charging stations. A specialised technical team from BHEL recently visited Nalanda to conduct site surveys and assess the feasibility of the selected locations.
In the presence of Motor Vehicle Inspector Pramod Kumar, the team inspected sites at the Biharsharif Government Bus Stand, NH-20’s 17 Number Mor, Rajgir Bus Stand and land near Surajpur petrol pump in Nalanda.
Following the initial assessment, the BHEL team gave its consent for setting up charging stations at three of the inspected locations, officials said.

The 16 locations included in the proposal are:

- Narsanda
- Chainpur
- Cheran
- Aharawan
- Naruda
- Sadikpur

- Arwan-Parwalpur
- Makanpur
During the survey, officials assessed several technical parameters, including electricity supply connectivity, road accessibility for vehicles and other infrastructure requirements.
District Transport Officer Ravi Ranjan said the technical assessment of the proposed sites has been completed. The installation process is expected to move forward after BHEL submits its formal recommendation report.
The proposed charging network is expected to provide additional support to EV users travelling across Nalanda and reduce concerns over battery depletion during longer journeys.
