Nalanda: Nalanda University has announced a major programme to strengthen climate leadership in India, with the launch of its Executive Certificate Course on Net-Zero Strategy. The residential course will take place from December 25 to 29 at the university’s Net-Zero Campus in Rajgir, Nalanda. The initiative is seen as a key effort in preparing future leaders who can contribute to India’s growing commitment to reduce carbon emissions and address climate change effectively.
The programme is meant for working professionals, government officials, corporate executives and young leaders who want to make a real contribution to sustainability. The university stated that participants will gain practical training on issues such as climate change, energy conservation and resource management — skills that will be essential for building a Net-Zero India. The course aims not only to build awareness but to develop capabilities that result in real-world climate solutions.
The curriculum has been designed by combining Nalanda University’s academic heritage with modern scientific thinking. Core subjects include energy systems, waste management, water conservation, sustainable mobility and behavioural change. The learning experience will feature design-thinking workshops, case studies, AI-enabled sustainability tools, campus exposure visits and expert interactions. The training structure focuses on giving participants practical skills instead of relying only on theoretical learning.
The course is being organised in collaboration with C-NEXT (Centre for Net Zero Education, Exchange and Transformation) and Environmental Design Solutions (EDS). Vice Chancellor Professor Sachin Chaturvedi highlighted that strong leadership is central to the global push for Net-Zero goals. He said that sustainability leadership today requires not just technical knowledge but the ability to drive cultural and institutional change. The course intends to prepare leaders who can think scientifically and act responsibly across professional environments.
The programme will cover global climate commitments, renewable energy, smart grid systems, water recycling, resource recovery and planning for Net-Zero implementation. Participants will also learn how to prepare and monitor a Net-Zero roadmap for organisations and institutions. As one of India’s leading Net-Zero Campuses, Nalanda University will allow trainees to learn from the real operations of a functioning zero-carbon complex — a rare opportunity for hands-on experience in climate action.
Nalanda University has reaffirmed its commitment to developing skilled, sensitive and informed leadership for environmental protection and sustainable development. Detailed registration information and course requirements are available on the university’s official website.
