Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Patna on Thursday ahead of the much-anticipated expansion of the Bihar cabinet led by Samrat Choudhary.
The prime minister received a ceremonial welcome at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport before departing for Gandhi Maidan, where the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place.
Mega Roadshow Through Patna
Large crowds gathered along the route from the airport to Gandhi Maidan as preparations intensified for PM Modi’s roadshow through the city.
Party workers from the NDA alliance lined the roads carrying flags and raising slogans, while posters, banners and welcome arches were erected across several parts of Patna.
Officials said significant public turnout was expected throughout the programme.
Cabinet Expansion In Focus
The ceremony marks the first major cabinet expansion under the Samrat Choudhary government.
Sources indicated that more than 30 ministers could take oath during the event, with representation expected from alliance partners including the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Hindustani Awam Morcha.
Political observers said the NDA has attempted to balance caste and regional representation while finalising the cabinet lineup.
Social And Regional Balance
According to party sources, emphasis has been placed on including leaders from backward classes, extremely backward classes, Dalit, Mahadalit and upper-caste communities.
There is also speculation that leaders from Mithilanchal, Seemanchal, Magadh, Bhojpur and Kosi regions may receive representation in the new cabinet.
Tight Security Across City
Security arrangements were intensified across Patna ahead of the prime minister’s visit.
A large deployment of personnel from the Special Protection Group, Bihar Police and central security agencies was stationed along the roadshow route.
Traffic diversions were implemented across several key roads, and authorities appealed to residents to use alternative routes during the programme.
Political Significance
Crowds began assembling near Gandhi Maidan early in the morning, with organisers setting up large LED screens and a special stage for the event.
Political analysts said Modi’s presence has added considerable political significance to the cabinet expansion, which the NDA views as an opportunity to strengthen both governance and organisational outreach ahead of future electoral contests.
