Bhagalpur/Patna: The Naugachia administration has deployed police personnel and magistrates at more than 50 locations across the subdivision to manage traffic and ensure the smooth movement of Kanwar pilgrims during the Sawan month.
The deployment, ordered by the subdivision administration, will remain in place from Sunday upto August 28. Police officers and executive magistrates will work in two shifts, with intensified arrangements from Saturday evening to Monday evening each week, when pilgrim movement is at its peak.
Traffic Management Along Pilgrim Routes
According to officials, special arrangements have been made on routes used by devotees carrying Ganga water on foot and by vehicles to Shiva temples. Traffic police will assist in regulating vehicular movement to minimise congestion and prevent inconvenience to pilgrims.
Naugachia Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Sharma reviewed the route plan and security camps and directed officers to maintain close monitoring of the pilgrimage routes throughout the festival period.
Personnel Deployed Across Police Station Areas
Officials said police and magistrates have been stationed across multiple locations in Naugachia, Parbatta, Jhandapur and Bhawanipur police station areas.
Authorities have also advised travellers to use the Munger bridge as an alternative route in view of increasing traffic pressure on the Bailey Bridge.
Security At Ganga Ghats
Additional security measures have been put in place at Ganga ghats under Gopalpur, Parbatta and Bhawanipur police station limits.
Police personnel have been deployed along with trained divers at the ghats to prevent drowning incidents and respond quickly to emergencies during the pilgrimage season.
