Patna/Chhapra: The managing director of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL), Rahul Kumar (IAS), on Friday inspected a power substation in Chhapra and reviewed ongoing infrastructure and revenue-related works, directing officials to ensure timely completion and strict compliance with safety norms.
During the visit to the Chhapra Circle substation, Kumar examined standard operating procedure (SOP) registers, safety equipment and transformers installed in the switchyard. He stressed adherence to safety protocols during operations and maintenance activities.
He later inspected a 400/220/132 kV grid substation under construction in Chhapra and reviewed the pace of work. Officials were instructed to complete the project within the stipulated timeline. As part of the visit, he also planted saplings on the premises, highlighting environmental conservation efforts.
A review meeting was subsequently held at the District Collectorate auditorium in Chhapra with officials of the power supply circle. The discussion covered revenue collection, project implementation, the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana and the rollout of smart metering systems.
The managing director also reviewed arrears recovery at the sub-divisional level and directed officials to strengthen efforts to improve collection. He emphasised the need for faster resolution of complaints received at bill correction camps and the disposal of pending applications for new electricity connections.
Progress on power substations being constructed under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and the state plan in Chhapra, Siwan and Gopalganj districts was also assessed.
Kumar directed officials to adhere to project timelines and ensure an uninterrupted and reliable power supply to consumers. Senior officials from the headquarters, including the director (projects), general manager (revenue) and chief engineer (operation and maintenance), attended the meeting.
