Patna: The Danapur division of Indian Railways will operate six special trains on Sunday for students appearing in the NEET UG 2026 examination, officials said.
The move is intended to support candidates travelling to and from examination centres across Bihar and adjoining regions.
Railway authorities said the services will run on the Patna, Buxar, Gaya, Jhajha and Darbhanga routes.
Additional arrangements for exam day
Abhinav Siddharth, senior divisional commercial manager (DCM), Danapur, said the special arrangements had been made to ensure candidates reach their centres on time and return without difficulty.
He said all stations under the Danapur division had been placed on alert to avoid disruption and ensure passenger convenience.
Routes and timings announced
Railways have issued the following schedule for the special services:
Up direction
- Patna Junction to Darbhanga – 4.30am
- Buxar to Patna Junction – 6.30am
- Patna Junction to Buxar – 6.20pm
- Jhajha to Danapur – 3.40am
- Danapur to Jhajha – 6.15pm
- Patna Junction to Gaya Junction – 6.00am
Down direction
- Darbhanga to Patna Junction – 9.30am
- Patna Junction to Buxar – 9.15am
- Buxar to Patna Junction – 9.05pm
- Danapur to Jhajha – 11.00pm
- Gaya Junction to Patna Junction – 9.00am
Officials clarified that these timings were part of the temporary exam-day schedule.
Crowd management measures in place
Railway authorities said additional crowd management measures would be implemented at major stations, drawing on lessons from heavy congestion during recent recruitment examinations at Pataliputra Junction.
Extra personnel will be deployed to manage passenger flow, assist candidates and maintain security, officials said.
The division said the focus would remain on ensuring smooth operations and minimising inconvenience for students and their accompanying family members.
