Patna: A new medication is raising hopes for patients battling diabetes and obesity. Speaking at the “Walk for Life” Diabetes Awareness Programme organised by Aastha Foundation on March 16, Dr. Divakar Tejaswi, Medical Director and Senior Physician of Public Awareness for Healthful Approach for Living (PAHAL), said the drug Semaglutide is showing remarkable results. The event brought together students and faculty of TPS College to promote awareness about diabetes prevention.
Dr. Tejaswi explained that Semaglutide not only helps control blood glucose levels but also aids in weight reduction. “This dual benefit makes it highly valuable for patients managing both diabetes and obesity,” he said, adding that the medication is gaining attention as a significant advancement in recent diabetes treatments.
The doctor also announced that the patent for Semaglutide is set to expire in the first week of April. This is expected to lower the drug’s price, making it more accessible and affordable for the wider public. Experts believe this development could offer substantial relief to those undergoing long-term diabetes treatment.
In addition to discussing the drug, Dr. Tejaswi urged attendees to adopt a healthy lifestyle. He recommended regular exercise, a balanced diet, and periodic health check-ups. He emphasized that lifestyle-related diseases like diabetes can be managed effectively through awareness and proper health practices.
Participants praised the programme as a meaningful step toward raising public health awareness, with many noting its role in encouraging healthier living among students and educators alike.
