Begusarai: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has launched a three-month certificate course in Clothing Sewing Technology at its Begusarai Extension Centre to empower women associated with Bihar’s Jeevika programme. The course, which began on Monday, will train 30 Jeevika Didis to enhance their skills in garment making and operate world-class sewing machines with accuracy and confidence.
The programme is designed to make participants self-reliant by providing technical knowledge required for employment and entrepreneurship in the clothing sector. The curriculum includes sewing, pattern making, and efficient use of sewing machines.
The initiative has been supported by Union Minister for Textiles Giriraj Singh, who represents Begusarai in Lok Sabha, along with Director General Tanu Kashyap, Dean Academics Nupur Anand, and Patna Director Colonel Rahul Sharma. Jeevika’s District Project Manager Avinash Kumar will facilitate certification of the participants and their connection to the training programme.
