Patna: Prof Dr Nishant Sahay has taken over as the Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology, Pain Medicine and Critical Care at AIIMS Patna, following the retirement of Prof Dr Umesh Kumar Bhadani.
According to an official press release, the leadership transition comes as the department continues its expansion in clinical services, postgraduate education and research.
Department Has 13 Faculty Members And Nearly 90 Residents
Prof Dr Bhadani and Prof Dr Sahay joined AIIMS Patna in March 2013. Along with Dr Chandni Sinha, they played a role in establishing and developing the Department of Anaesthesiology at the institute.
The department has since expanded to become one of the largest departments at AIIMS Patna, with 13 faculty members and nearly 90 residents, supported by technicians and other staff.
Prof Bhadani Held Key Administrative Roles
During his tenure at AIIMS Patna, Prof Dr Umesh Kumar Bhadani served as Medical Superintendent and Dean (Academics), in addition to his academic and clinical responsibilities.
AIIMS Patna Director Prof (Brig) Dr Raju Agarwal thanked Prof Dr Bhadani for his contribution to the institute and conveyed his best wishes following his retirement.
Focus On Patient Care, Education And Research
Dr Agarwal also congratulated Prof Dr Nishant Sahay on assuming the new responsibility.
According to the press release, the institute expects the department to further strengthen its work in patient care, medical education, clinical research and academic activities under the new leadership.
Prof Dr Sahay has been involved in clinical care, teaching, research and academic administration and has also served as an editor and examiner for medical journals and academic programmes, the release said.
Also Serving As Boys’ Hostel Chief Warden
Prof Dr Sahay is currently serving as the Chief Warden of the Boys’ Hostel at AIIMS Patna, where he is also involved in the institute’s academic and institutional environment.
According to AIIMS Patna, the department will continue to focus on patient-centred care, postgraduate teaching, clinical research and academic excellence.
The institute said it remains committed to advancing quality healthcare, medical education and research in the state.
