Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed Nitin Nabin, a senior leader and minister in the Bihar government, as its new working president. The decision was announced on Sunday evening through an official letter issued by BJP national general secretary Arun Singh. The appointment places Nabin in an important organisational position at a time when the party is preparing for major internal changes.
Nitin Nabin is currently a minister in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government and handles crucial departments such as road construction and urban development. He is a well-known face in Patna politics and has been elected from the Bankipur assembly constituency for five consecutive terms. His repeated electoral victories have helped him build a strong reputation as a leader with deep connections among voters and party workers.

Within the BJP, Nabin is considered a skilled organiser and strategist. During the recent Bihar assembly elections, he played a significant role as part of the party’s core team. He was involved in key responsibilities such as ticket distribution, election campaigning and overall management, helping the party coordinate its efforts on the ground.
As working president, Nitin Nabin will now be responsible for overseeing the process to elect the BJP’s new national president. The term of the current national president, JP Nadda, had ended earlier but was extended several times due to important elections across the country. Nabin’s appointment is being seen as a clear signal that the party is now moving forward with a leadership transition at the top.
