Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party National President and Bankipur MLA, Nitin Nabin, conducted a site inspection of Mandiri and Bakarganj drains in Patna on Tuesday. The visit aimed to assess the final-phase construction work, evaluate drainage efficiency, and provide guidance to officials. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Urban Development & Housing,Vijay Sinha, BUIDCO MD Animesh Parashar, Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena, and other senior officials accompanied the inspection. Nabin emphasised that the drain projects would benefit thousands of residents and improve traffic management across the city.
During the inspection, Nabin reviewed the cleanliness, silt removal, structural integrity, and water flow of the drains. He instructed officials and technical staff to complete all ongoing works promptly, maintaining high standards of quality and transparency. Regular monitoring of progress was also stressed, ensuring accountability and timely delivery ahead of the monsoon season.
Interacting with local residents, Nabin stressed that efficient drainage and smooth road connectivity are essential administrative responsibilities requiring coordination among departments. He directed that all drain-related works be prioritised, with follow-up inspections planned to ensure consistent oversight and effective management during heavy rains.
The Mandiri drain renovation, led by Patna Smart City Limited, covers 1,289 metres and includes a 2-lane road, service roads, utility ducts, ramps, desilting chambers, four sluice gates, street lighting, and landscaping, at a cost of Rs 86.98 crore. The Bakarganj drain, costing Rs 26.98 crore, will serve key areas including Lalji Tola, Railway Colony, Peermuhani, Rajendra Path, Ashok Rajpath, and Gandhi Maidan, providing improved water management and urban connectivity.
