Patna: Political circles have been abuzz since Bharatiya Janata Party appointed Nitin Nabin as its new national president, a move that has also brought a significant upgrade to his personal security.
According to official sources, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has accorded Z-category security to Nabin following a threat perception report submitted by the Intelligence Bureau. Under the arrangement, his security will be handled by specially trained commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who will accompany him during all movements across the country.
Officials said the enhanced security cover has been accompanied by tighter movement protocols, reflecting Nabin’s elevated political profile after his unopposed election as the BJP’s 12th national president.

The formal announcement was made on Tuesday at the party’s headquarters in Delhi, where Nabin was declared elected after no other candidate filed a nomination. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him at the event, garlanding the new president and emphasising the BJP’s organisational culture.
Before formally assuming office, the 45-year-old Nabin visited several prominent religious sites in Delhi, including the Valmiki Temple, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and Jhandewalan Temple, offering prayers ahead of taking on his new responsibilities. With his elevation, Nabin has become the youngest national president in the BJP’s history.

In Patna, celebrations followed the announcement, with party workers gathering at BJP offices and key intersections, beating drums, distributing sweets and congratulating one another. Women party members were also prominently visible in the festivities, underscoring the sense of enthusiasm around Nabin’s appointment.
