Munger: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited the Tarapur assembly constituency in Munger district on Sunday to campaign for Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate.
During the event, Choudhary touched Kumar’s feet on stage, seeking his blessings, while the Chief Minister garlanded him and placed a hand on his shoulder, praising his work. “He does excellent work,” CM told the crowd.
Addressing a public meeting in Haveli Kharagpur, CM Nitish highlighted Choudhary’s contributions, urging voters to support him. “The NDA candidate from Tarapur is our Deputy Chief Minister. He does excellent work in the government. Those who were with us before know he will remain committed,” he said, emphasising that Choudhary’s election would bring development to the area.

Choudhary, a local of Tarapur and Kharagpur, told supporters he aimed to fulfil longstanding local aspirations. He credited CM Nitish’s government with expanding infrastructure, including road networks and electricity supply, and appealed for strong voter turnout. “People of Tarapur and Kharagpur, break all records here and send me to Patna so that we can support Nitish Kumar,” he said.
CM Nitish also outlined his government’s achievements in the district and criticised the previous Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) administration. He noted improvements in law and order since 2005, the approval of 430 new schemes in Bihar—including ten in Munger—and the construction of 141 rural roads and bridges in Tarapur. “Bihar is developing with the support of the Centre,” he added.
