Patna: Nitin Nabin, a minister in the Bihar government and a five-time MLA from Bankipur in Patna, was appointed working president of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday, drawing congratulatory messages from leaders across the party and its allies.
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar welcomed the appointment in a social media post, describing Nabin as an “energetic colleague” and expressing confidence that his new role would strengthen the BJP. Kumar said it was a matter of pride that a leader from Bihar had been given the responsibility at the national level, and praised Nabin as a dedicated and disciplined politician with long experience in public life.

Nabin, who has been elected to the Bihar assembly five times, currently serves as a minister in the state cabinet. Over the years, he has held several organisational roles within the party, including positions in the BJP Yuva Morcha.
Union home minister Amit Shah also congratulated Nabin, calling his appointment an honour for young party workers. In a statement, Shah highlighted Nabin’s organisational experience, noting his work as national general secretary of the BJP Yuva Morcha, president of its Bihar unit, and as the party’s state in-charge for Chhattisgarh. He said Nabin’s elevation reflected his years of dedication to the organisation and his engagement with people at the grassroots level.
