Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday visited the historic Golghar complex in Patna to review its current condition and facilities. During his visit, he walked around the Golghar park and closely inspected the massive granary structure, which is one of the city’s most recognised landmarks. He also reviewed the arrangements for visitors, including lighting, cleanliness and overall upkeep of the complex.
While interacting with officials, the chief minister said Golghar is an important heritage site and is visited daily by a large number of people, including tourists and local residents. He instructed officials to focus on proper beautification and regular maintenance so that the complex looks clean and attractive at all times. He said a well-maintained Golghar would not only improve the visitor experience but also enhance Patna’s image as a city rich in history and culture.
Special attention was given to the light, sound and laser show that was started at Golghar in 2013 to tell the story of the monument. The chief minister directed that the show should be conducted regularly so that visitors can easily learn about the history and importance of Golghar. He also asked officials to install clear and informative display boards across the complex to explain the historical background of the structure in simple words.
Calling Golghar a fine example of historic architecture, Nitish Kumar said extra care must be taken to protect and preserve its structure. He emphasised that timely repairs and careful maintenance are necessary to ensure that the monument remains safe and strong for future generations. Several senior leaders and officials, including JD(U) acting national president and MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, chief minister’s secretary Dr Chandrashekhar Singh and Patna district magistrate Dr Thyagarajan S M, were present during the visit.
