Patna: Patna turned into a hub of science and technology celebrations on Saturday when Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated several new projects to promote science education. The event took place at the famous Patna Planetarium, where he flagged off the much-awaited Science Exhibition Bus. This unique bus will travel to schools and towns across Bihar, taking science experiments and information directly to students.
The Science Exhibition Bus is designed to help children understand science in a fun and easy way. It will display working models, posters, and interactive panels to make learning exciting. Officials said the bus will visit even remote areas so that students everywhere can get the same opportunity to learn and explore.
At the same event, Nitish Kumar also launched many new schemes under the Science, Technology and Technical Education Department. He unveiled a plaque to start the construction of Astra Park at the Planetarium and opened a new souvenir shop for visitors. A new M.Tech course in Geoinformatics was also introduced at Bihar Engineering University. To further boost scientific learning, an MoU was signed to build an observatory dome with a telescope at the Planetarium. An online internship portal for students was also launched.
The most exciting part of the day came when the chief minister inaugurated Bihar’s first Virtual Reality Theatre, built inside the Planetarium at a cost of Rs 5.6 crore. This special theatre will allow visitors to enjoy 3D experiences and learn science through virtual reality. Nitish Kumar personally experienced the theatre and said it would inspire students to take more interest in science.
These new projects are expected to benefit thousands of students and science lovers across the state. Officials believe that such steps will help make Bihar a centre for science education and inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators.
