Patna: Patna is in full ceremonial mode as preparations for Nitish Kumar’s swearing-in as Chief Minister of Bihar reach their peak. The historic Gandhi Maidan has been transformed with elaborate lighting, creating what officials described as a “Diwali-like spectacle” on Wednesday evening.
The venue, which has hosted many political milestones in Bihar’s history, glittered under rows of bulbs and decorative lights. From stage construction to security cordons and hospitality booths, preparations have been accelerated ahead of the high-profile event.
Cultural welcome for VVIP guests at Patna airport
In anticipation of the arrival of chief ministers, union ministers and senior political leaders from across India, the Department of Art, Culture and Youth Affairs has deployed a special reception team at Patna airport.
Stationed at the arrival area, the team has been welcoming dignitaries with tilak ceremonies and aarti, a gesture meant to showcase Bihar’s traditional hospitality.
The group comprises instructors and performers from the Indian Dance Art Temple, including Sudipa Ghosh, Sangeeta Ramankutty, Mansi Behera, Sarika Patel, and Imli Das Gupta.
Wearing traditional attire, the performers greeted guests throughout the day on Wednesday, and the department has confirmed that the same arrangements will continue on Thursday as more dignitaries arrive.
Officials tighten preparations for a high-profile gathering
Given the significant number of VVIPs expected, the administration has issued instructions to ensure tight security, smooth protocol, and uninterrupted logistics both at the airport and at Gandhi Maidan.
Senior officials said that chief ministers, ministers from various states, and prominent national figures linked to the political ceremony will be received by the cultural team before heading to the swearing-in venue.
