Aurangabad: Former MP Anand Mohan faced strong protests from villagers in Tetaria village of Barun block, Aurangabad district, on Sunday while campaigning for his son, Chetan Anand, the NDA-backed Janata Dal (United) candidate from the Nabinagar Assembly constituency.
As soon as Anand Mohan arrived in Tetaria village under Kanchanpur Panchayat, villagers blocked his way with bamboo poles and began chanting slogans such as “No road, no vote” and “Down with Nitish Kumar.” The villagers alleged that their village still lacks a proper road, prompting them to boycott voting in protest.
Hearing the anti-government slogans, Anand Mohan became agitated and responded, “What Nitish Kumar has done is beyond anyone’s control. Your village may have been deprived of development, but he has developed the entire state of Bihar.” However, his statement further angered the villagers, who started chanting “Anand Mohan, go back.”
Following the heated exchange, Anand Mohan and his supporters decided to leave the village. One of his workers reportedly remarked, “If this situation continues, a road to your village will remain a dream,” which further provoked the villagers.
Chetan Anand, Anand Mohan’s son, is contesting the Nabinagar Assembly seat on a JD(U) ticket. He had earlier won the Shivhar seat as an RJD candidate but later joined the JD(U) after a political realignment during the floor test.
Chetan’s mother, Lovely Anand, is the sitting JD(U) MP from Shivhar and had earlier represented Nabinagar as an MLA in 1996.
